Perfume Review Indonesia: Carl & Claire — Gold and Lavish
After trying HMNS, I really excited to try another local perfume and I choose to try Carl & Claire as my second full bottle. Honestly, before this one I already tried few local perfumes but with the vial size, you could check them all in my Instagram’s Highlight.
So, I would like to give my impression about two fragrances from this brand, which I choose Gold and Lavish.
#1. Packaging — Simple and sleek
Thought you already familiar with the bottle, right? Yes, the bottle of this brand reminds me of Channel, or the transparent bottle and black and white bottle reminds me of Jo Malone vibes, Initio or maybe remind us of Tom Ford?
Anyway, this brands comes up with two color: Black and White, with a few types like: Luxury, Fresh, Floral and Middle East, which Gold and Lavish included in Luxury type that this brand claim the longevity up to 15 hours!
Yes, the box so simple, elegant and sleek. You will get the bottle and 1 vial to try their another collection (around 1,5 ml). For all the concept from the packaging, bottle, you would pay for 279k rupiah for Luxury type. #2. The Juice and Scent — not glamorous as the packaging
Honestly, a little bit disappoint with the juice of this perfume. For me, this is oily enough, but the notes detail quite good!
Gold
From this scent, Carl & Claire want to create a special occasion fragrance that you can feel ‘luxurious’ like a gold if you wear it. It open with a little bit citrusy-alcoholic, I’m not sure this one really citrus because I just smell a little bit like zesty lemon or the vapor of warm lemon water, then turns out spicy-rose dominate this perfume with something wood, oud on the background mixed with musk notes. Overall, make this perfume powdery, musky, roses with oud or something woody on the background. This perfume make you feel warm, a little bit sweet and spicy and powdery. For the longevity, honestly I don’t wear this on my skin because I have an allergic with rose, but as far as I remember ever spray it on my chest, it lasting from morning to night still with skin scent, in my clothes just the same and with the moderate projection — projection quite good for the first 2–3 hours.
Lavish
Honestly I’m not do full wear with this one because I really tired and bored with this scent, because this is a dupe from Baccarat Rouge, and I give this to my sister. As I remember ever try this, this one open with a sweet scent like honey, mixed with saffron and something like jasmine tea with woody scent in the background. This is too sweet and the jasmine quite strong enough, so I think this is good for woman, but if a men love perfume like baccarat rouge, you could try this one as well. This is more long lasting than Gold and projection quite good too.
#3. Occasion? Marketed to?
For Gold, this good for night scent, or indoor occasion — but not office, maybe feel too much if we wear it in office, but if you comfort with that, it’s your choice. I prefer to use this at night, or when I just want go the mall, or when I want go to the mosque for Friday prayer. Lavish quite good in every occasion but better not to spray too much because it too sweet at first. Overall both of them quite unisex, especially for Gold but I think Lavish seems like marketed to woman.
If you want to imagine, Gold could reminds you of someone who really mature, calm and rich (lol — I mean who always look clean, always go around with their own car).
#4. Conclusion
Overall, I love the bottle — easy to carry, small, sleek, and easy to grip too, quite elegant! But … I don’t like the sprayer, especially for my Gold, because it’s not spout widely, I mean like we must push it harder to got the juice burst well. Then, like I already mentioned about the ‘quite oily juice’, honestly in the price range this could be better because this one just for 30 ml — feel a little bit overprice. If we compare with hmns, I prefer the juice quality from hmns. I don’t know why this comes up with oily enough, maybe because for the sake the longevity? Who knows ~
Is it worth? It depends to you! 279k rupiah for 30 ml, in my humble opinion, I prefer to buy another fragrance which I could get more like 50 ml or 100 ml. This one really good choice for you who want to give a gift to your friends or family with their nice packaging, or … if you buy this when have a promo or special offer, this one quite good to try. If you’re living in Jakarta, you could try them all in their pop up store in Pondok Indah Mall or Puri Indah Mall.
